Logo!

Here it is, I like it a lot.  Good job thenetmen.com!

I’ve spent the last week working on a settings interface for when you first run our new app, it’s been non-interesting tedious work so I haven’t posted about it really.  It’s just more tables.  I’ve learned now that I can generally get the basic GUI elements all hooked up and working for your average screen with a table on it in one day now.

In the meantime I’m working with thenetmencorp.com to produce a logo for Stormtap, as well as a website.  I’ll post the logo when it’s all done.  There’s been some cool concepts so far from them, and I’m excited to see what our look will end up being.

Apple announced their OS 3.0 update today along with what features it would bring with it.  Well, we haven’t announced what app we’re working on right now, but let’s just say that a lot of the work we’ve been doing to get this app together has been implemented already in Apple’s OS 3.0.  So we’re very scared about what this means for us.  It could be that we’ve done a lot of this work for nothing.  If we finish up quickly though maybe we can get the app out in time to make some money before the OS update comes out.

This has us majorly freaked out.  Some of the other things that freak us out in the announcement is Apple’s willingness to take functionality implemented by a developer and turn it into a native app (which they are doing by making a native audio recording app, which will replace the already tens of voice recording utilities on the store now).  This really pisses me off and I think is a very shortsighted move on Apple’s part.  Now everyone has to live in fear that if they develop a killer useful app, Apple will just create a native clone of it and destroy your business.  How can we compete with that?

Update on migration status.

On March 13, 2009, in iPhone Development, by admin

Man…  Looks like i jumped the gun on claiming that migration from an person to a corporation was painless with Apple.  It seems that migrating the developer side is very quick and simple, however getting the iTunesConnect people to update their side of things is extremely slow and painful.

It’s been two weeks now since the dev people changed me over, luckily I have the portal up and running as Stormtap, and was able to add Mike to the team.  But yeah, iTunesConnect people are busy apparently.  I’m fairly certain that their tasks consists of changing an address field and a name field from my name and address to Stormtap’s name and address…  But what the hell do I know.

In the next few days I’ll do a big post about the current app we’re working on.  We’ve been extremely busy finaliing that app, and are just now entering testing/bug fixing on it.

Boring update post

I’m still working on duplicating the compose email screen you see in Apple’s mail apps for our next project.  As you can see by my post frequency this is a difficult task that requires lots of document and internet scouring to figure out how to get it to look and function just like Apple’s screen.  I think when I’m done I’ll do a nice writeup on how to do this for others to follow.  Seems like useful information.  God I wish Apple had just made a function for us to call to send an email with attachments.
